Sediment filters are designed to capture particles suspended in your water, but the micron rating determines the size of particles they remove. Coarse filters capture larger particles such as sand, grit and rust, making them ideal as a first stage where water contains heavier sediment. Fine filters capture much smaller particles, providing a higher level of filtration and helping to protect downstream filters and appliances.
